About
Belmont, California
I'm Greg Harris — a Silicon Valley engineer with 20+ years in various challenging technical roles. I've spent over a decade on enterprise search (Apache Solr and Lucidworks Fusion). I love both implementing technology solutions and talking about them with clients and have had roles doing both.
As the lead support engineer at Lucidworks I spent a lot of time with the most difficult cases, debugging live large account production cluster outages, running root-cause analysis, and getting deployments healthy. I also was relied on for mentoring other engineers within the group. As a TAM I spent time helping customers implement Lucidworks solutions for search and especially migrating towards Neural Hybrid Search and RAG solutions.
Before search, I spent roughly a decade as a senior software engineer building scalable Java systems for medical-informatics products at Wolters Kluwer and Skolar. Alongside the engineering I passed all three levels of the CFA Program exams — the foundation for the finance work I care about most.
I combine that systems-engineering depth with investing theory to build quantitative-finance tools: crisis-aware portfolio optimization, Monte Carlo retirement and options-valuation models, utility-based position sizing (Kelly-style), and multi-asset analytics dashboards. The projects on this site are the current generation of that work — built and operated end to end.
